from what part of the country overwhelmingly was andrew jackson’s base?

A. the frontier and the southern states

B. the frontier and northern states

C. the northwest and northeast

Answers

Answer:

A

Explanation:

This is actually a hard question to answer. It also depends on which election you are talking about. John Quincy Adams won the first round (1824) and Jackson came back and won the second round (1828) resoundingly. So I take it we are talking about the second round.

Adams took the north east.

Jackson won almost everywhere else in 1828, but his most solid report came from the frontier and the south.

C is definitely wrong. Adams won the northeast.

B is also incorrect. The north east states belonged to Adams.

The 1824 election is a really interesting election. I did not know this, but apparently in that election it was really the house of representatives that decided who the president was going to be.

Adams was the only president not to win either the popular vote or the electoral college vote and still become president. I urge you, particularly if you are an American, to look up to see how that happened. It certainly was not repeated in 1828 or any time since for that matter.

Pretend that you are a newspaper reporter from the North traveling to the South>Write a newspaper article to inform your Northern readers about the many cultural differences you have discovered in the South.

Answers

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

This would be the title of the article:

"Indeed we are different. They vs. Us."

It is not easy to understand the fact that if we are all called Americans, why are we so different?

The country is the United States. But we are not United, and the states are confrontational.

Without a doubt, the North is so different than the South, and this is hurting and dividing the nation.

I am arriving from the South. What an interesting trip to that region. It opened my eyes. We are one nation, clearly divided into two. We, the northerners. They, the southerners.

Sectionalism is one factor that has influenced this separation. I realized there are some reasons that have caused this sectionalism. Of course, slavery, economic differences, culture, and legislation.

The cultural differences are remarkable and you can see them reflected in society.

Here, in the North, we are more urbanized. There is a lot of industry and urbanization is the result of better infrastructure. Although low-paid jobs are offered in industries, at least there are jobs for everyone. That is not the case in the South. They depend totally on slaves. Most people live from agriculture, growing cash crops. For them to be successful, they need slaves.

Religion is not a major issue in the North. We have faith in God and try to be good citizens. In the South, religious fervor is notorious.

Education is another factor that separates us from the South. The school system is different and there are more schools here in the North.

Finally, politics and legislation. The North is not segregationist. On the contrary, we oppose slavery. We think the new states should be "free states." The southerners think the opposite, new states should be "slave states."

Is there any short-term solution to decently resolve our disputes and differences?

I don't see any coming.

Maybe, it is just a matter of time.

Seneca Falls: Common Ground
By Andrea Brecheen

The Seneca Falls Convention of 1848 was the single-most important event of the early women's suffrage movement. The suffrage movement grew out of centuries of shameful and unfair treatment of women. At the time of the Convention, women did not have the right to vote or serve on juries, and many women were unable to inherit property. In the decades leading up to the Convention, a small group of women began to rebel against these injustices. Suffrage originated from women's participation in the anti-slavery and temperance movements.

The Seneca Falls Convention was the first conference dedicated to women's rights. The Convention was organized by two female abolitionists, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott. Lucretia Mott was an eloquent Quaker social reformer. Mott had previously been denied the right to speak at an anti-slavery conference in London after the men voted to exclude women from participating. Unlike many women of her time, Elizabeth Cady Stanton received a formal education. At the age of 16, Stanton studied mathematics, Latin, and Greek, demonstrating her keen abilities by mastering the subjects alongside boys of her own age.

Coming together to support the suffrage movement, Mott and Stanton organized the Convention in Seneca Falls, NY in July of 1848. During the six-day meeting, Stanton presented the Declaration of Sentiments, a document she based on the Declaration of Independence. In the Declaration, she so elegantly wrote, "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men and women are created equal." The Declaration included a list of grievances detailing the treatment of women. The Declaration was signed by sixty-eight women and thirty-two men.

Following the Convention, in 1848 the New York State Assembly passed the Married Women's Act. This act protected property that women brought into or earned during marriage.

Read the passage. Which sentence best represents a fact about Elizabeth Cady Stanton detailed in the text?

"Unlike many women of her time, Elizabeth Cady Stanton received a formal education."
"In the Declaration, she so elegantly wrote, 'We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men and women are created equal.'"
"Stanton rightly believed it should the law should be changed to make it easier for women to get divorces and keep their access to their children."
"At the age of 16, Stanton studied mathematics, Latin, and Greek, demonstrating her keen abilities by mastering the subjects alongside boys of her own age."
