Read the following excerpt from an argumentative essay. Answer the question that follows.

Critics might say that smartphones in the classroom cause too many distractions. A 2009 article in Education Magazine made just such a claim. Although cell phones can certainly cause distractions, current research suggests that teachers and students are putting phones to better use. A 2013 Educator Insider poll reveals that 67% of high school instructors now encourage students to use phones in the classroom setting. Students without phones are actually at a disadvantage in the classroom. The poll lists Internet access, spell checks, and collaboration as three key uses of smartphones in an educational setting.

Read the excerpt from The Story of My Life by Helen Keller.

Have you ever been at sea in a dense fog, when it seemed as if a tangible white darkness shut you in, and the great ship, tense and anxious, groped her way toward the shore with plummet and sounding-line, and you waited with beating heart for something to happen? I was like that ship before my education began, only I was without compass or sounding-line, and had no way of knowing how near the harbour was.

Which statement best describes the purpose of the imagery in the excerpt?

It allows the reader to feel how lost Helen feels before she learns to communicate.
It allows the reader to feel how excited Helen feels when her new teacher arrives.
It keeps the reader in suspense and eager to find out what happens to Helen.
It paints a picture for the reader of how dangerous it is to be lost at sea.

Please Answer Both of them will mark you brainliest. On the second one look at what Internal and External Conflict is and answer the questions which says what is the external conflict for chapter 19.

Answers

Explanation:

In the first fight scene (on page 54), Percy doesn't seem confident with his fighting abilities for these reasons:

He says "time slowed down" and "my legs tensed" indicating that he was nervous or scared. Also, this was a situation he was suddenly thrust into while trying to save his mom and his friend, so of course he'd be scared or unconfident.

In the fight scene on page 164, he seems more confident for these reasons:

- He reacts quickly when he sees the Furies (by grabbing the wheel of the bus)

- He hits the emergency brake (another quick reaction)

- He exposes himself to the furies after the bus stops, to help Annabeth and Grover. He wouldn't do this if he wasn't more confident in his fighting abilities.

- He uses his sword, Riptide, and successfuly stops one of the furies.

Now for the second question!

External conflict: The conflict between Percy and Hades is an excellent representation of External conflict. They both strongly believe two different things: Hades believes that Percy stole the Master Bolt, and his Helm of Darkness, while Percy thinks Hades stole it. Their different beliefs end up with Hades taking Percy's mother as leverage for his Helm of Darkness, as well as sending the furies after Percy, and Percy going on an entire quest on misleading information.

Internal Conflict: When Percy has to decide between saving Annabeth and Grover, or his mother , this is an example of internal conflict. Over their time together, Percy has grown close with Annabeth and Grover, but he still loves his mom, and with the magic pearls only three of them can escape. He ends up choosing Annabeth and Grover, promising to come back for his mother.

I hope this helps! Feel free to ask if you have more questions, and please give me brainliest if I helped!

that the ocean consists of islands and continents with different weather natural resources animals and plants. The ocean has a limit and eventually you will be faced with a continent to get around
The ocean is a place of great biodiversity. It’s full of coral reefs, sea floors, and empty ocean, and it has many different species living within it. That being said, it is still limited within the confines of our world and it’s climate. The ocean contributes a lot to how our world’s climate works, but it is also heavily affected by external circumstances. It cannot self regulate. That means that, although the ocean is full of very complex systems, those systems cannot always have any influence on systems outside of itself that have the ability to cause harm.
