Answer 2

"The Masque of the Red Death" is a small story written by Edgar Allan Poe that was first released in 1842.

What is the theme of the story?

The fundamental theme of "The Masque of the Red Death" is death's inevitability, or maybe more precisely, its inescapability. Prospero and his comrades try to isolate themselves from the rest of the world in order to avoid the dreadful illness (the "red death") that is destroying the countryside.

Thus, Option D is correct.

From a distance, they both look like seals, but once you get up close you can actually see the difference. Seals and sea lions are both fish-loving mammals. Moreover, handy flippers propel them both through the water. But while seals have a tiny opening on the side of their heads, sea lions have actual earflaps. Furthermore, sea lions use their back flippers like feet to scoot along the beach. On the other hand, seals must wriggle and roll to get ahead. On the whole, when you visit a zoo or theme park, it's the honking, barking, funny sea lion you're likely to find playing to the crowds for fishy treats, earflaps and all.

Books that have been returned to the library must be sorted before they are put back on the shelves.

First, look at the stickers on the back edge of the books. Put books with a yellow dot above the label on the green cart. These new books will go on special shelves near the checkout desk. Books without a yellow dot go on gray carts.

Next, the books on each cart must be sorted by the label code. Codes always start with a letter of the alphabet, and most books have two letters in the code. Put all books in alphabetical order. For example, books with the letters PN go before books with the letters PV.

If several books have the same letter code, then use the number code on the label just below the letters. For example, a book coded PN 210 goes before a book coded PN 225.

When all the books on the carts are sorted, start putting them in the appropriate places on the shelves.

You work at the library. According to these instructions, where should you put a book coded PN 225 that does NOT have a yellow dot above the sticker?

Before a book coded NP 220
Before a book coded NP 230
Before a book coded PN 220
After a book coded PN 220

Answers

after a book coded PN 220 - it has to be after PN because of alphabetical order and because it has 225 it must go after a smaller number, in this case 220

Answers

Answer:

1. She played video games all day long without stopping. - c.  Immature Writing

2. Without ceasing, she gripped her controller in her hands and dominated her video games all day long. - b.  Mature Writing

3. For what had the quality of time interminable, she toiled merrily at her digital amusement. - a.  Overuse of Thesaurus

Explanation:

Let's take a look at each sentence.

Sentence number 1 uses a very simple vocabulary. In a sense, there is nothing special about it. No vivid descriptions, no word choice to help us picture the actions or sense the feelings. Therefore, it is an example of immature writing.

Sentence 2 is the opposite of 1. It uses more complex and descriptive words. Instead of simply saying "she played video games", the author makes it an action really worth telling with "she gripped her controller in her hands and dominated her video games." It sounds more exciting, and we can see her, the character, in action. Therefore, number 2 is an example of mature writing.

Finally, sentence 3 goes to an extreme when it comes to the use of complex or unusual words. It seems as if the author wanted to sound smart, so he/she exaggerated in the use of the Thesaurus. That, as a matter of fact, makes it much more difficult to comprehend the message being conveyed.

Answer:

She played video games all day long without stopping - Immature writing

Without ceasing, she gripped her controller in her hands and dominated  her video games all day long - Mature Writing

or what had the quality of time interminable, she toiled merrily at her digital amusement - Overuse of the Thesaurus

Explanation:

She played video games all day long without stopping.

A) Immature Writing

Explanation: While this is a complete sentence, this is generally only accepted in casual sentences, and is not used for formal writings.

B) Mature Writing

Without ceasing, she gripped her controller in her hands and dominated her video games all day long.

Explanation: While this is not a casual writing, it doesn't overuse any "high-class" words that very few know. This is the right sentence to use in many stories or essays.

C) Overuse of the Thesaurus

For what had the quality of time interminable, she toiled merrily at her digital amusement.

Explanation: This sentence uses the Thesaurus too much, for many of the words used are not "every-day" words, and is most likely a "bigger" word found in the Thesaurus.

3-paragraph essay on your opinion about its validity and relevance in today's society.

Answers

Answer:

Although we do not know what the quote you are referencing is, we are able to explain the claims that Swift makes throughout the entire essay.

In this essay, Swift makes a commentary about the view and value of person hood in his society. In this essay, he argues that poor Irish families should sell their children to wealthy English people in order for them to be eaten. Although the claim is absurd, what Swift wants to convey is that people value the lives of the poor, as well as the lives of the Irish, as less important than the lives of rich English people. In his society, such prejudice prevents people from valuing all lives equally.

This essay continues to be relevant today. Nowadays, we still believe some people are less worthy than others. For example, we care deeply about celebrities dying, but we do not care much about the hundreds of people who die from war or poverty everyday. As a society, the poor, the elderly, and foreigners are often seen as "less worthy" because of our prejudice. This view is also influenced by values in society pushed by the media, such as the celebration and admiration of extremely wealthy people.

The continuum of care is a key strategy for ensuring comprehensive service delivery for maternal health, while acknowledging the role of the social determinants of health. However, there is little research on the operationalisation of the framework by decision-makers and implementers to address maternal health challenges. The framework should be measurable and feasible for implementation in low- and middle-income country contexts. In this study, we explore experts’ perspective on monitoring indicators for continuum of care and key issues related to their use in the South African context.

Methods

We conducted key informant interviews with a range of experts in decision-making and programme implementation roles in the health system and relevant sectors. Key informants provided their perspectives on systematically selected, nationally representative monitoring indicators in terms of validity, relevance and feasibility. We interviewed 13 key informants and conducted a thematic analysis of their responses using multi-stage coding techniques in Atlas.ti 8.4.

Results

Experts believed that the continuum of care framework and monitoring indicators offer a multisectoral perspective for maternal health intervention missing in current programmes. To improve validity of monitoring indicators, experts suggested reflection on the use of proxy indicators and improvement of data to allow for equity analysis. In terms of relevance and feasibility, experts believe there was potential to foster co-accountability using continuum of care indicators. However, as experts stated, new indicators should be integrated that directly measure intersectoral collaboration for maternal health. In addition, experts recommended that the framework and indicators should evolve over time to reflect evolving policy priorities and public health challenges.

Conclusion

Experts, as decision-makers and implementers, helped identify key issues in the application of the continuum of care framework and its indicators. The use of local indicators can bring the continuum of care framework from an under-utilised strategy to a useful tool for action and decision-making in maternal health. Our findings point to measurement issues and systematic changes needed to improve comprehensive monitoring of maternal health interventions in South Africa. Our methods can be applied to other low- and middle-income countries using the continuum of care framework and locally available indicators.

Read the excerpt from "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud."

When all at once I saw a crowd,

A host, of golden daffodils;

Beside the lake, beneath the trees,

Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

What is the effect of the word dancing as it is used in this context?

It suggests that the plants in this poem possess magical powers.

It shows that the flowers are cheerfully moving with the wind.

It describes the signs of a strong storm that is approaching.

It emphasizes the poet's interest in folktales and traditional tales.

Answer:

It shows that the flowers are cheerfully moving with the wind.

Explanation:

The word "dancing" as used in the poem above, refers to the movement of the flowers, which sway gracefully and cheerfully with the wind. This grace can be compared to the grace of dancers dancing happily and harmoniously according to a certain song. The music of the flowers, however, is the gentle breeze that moves them rhythmically.

The impact that the word "dancing" provides in the given context would be as follows:

B). It shows that the flowers are cheerfully moving with the wind.

In the given excerpt, the usage of the word 'dancing' functions to display the joy of the flowers when they are in motion with the wind. These flowers and their cheerful feeling and elegance when they move are compared to the dancers. Like the dancers perform their dance gracefully on music, the flowers are blooming and moving away with the flow of the wind as it functions as rhythmic music for them on which these flowers move elegantly.

Thus, option B is the correct answer.
