What effects did Reagan's War on Drugs have on society? What are some of the outcomes from the war on drugs? 2-4 sentences.

Answers

Answer:

Reagan greatly expanded the reach of the drug war and his focus on criminal punishment over treatment led to a massive increase in incarcerations for nonviolent drug offenses, from 50,000 in 1980 to 400,000 in 1997. Criminalization of drug users, excessive levels of imprisonment, and punitive sentencing practices, including mandatory sentencing, the death penalty, and enforced 'drug detention centers', are some of the unintended negative consequences.

I don’t think you should ask me because I don’t know the answers I’m just trying to get more questions thank you

Answer:

While it seemed to me that any one of these could be the location for the “Lost City of Atlantis”,

I found the information on the South China Sea to be the most compelling, so I feel this is the  best candidate for the location for the following reasons:

1. The Atlantic Ocean was given its name because it is considered to be the “Ocean of the  Atlanteans” by Plato – who also believed that Atlantis was located in this ocean. Because  of this, any location outside of the Atlantic Ocean, including Santorini/Thera, could not  be the location – though at this point, Cuba is still in the running (www.atlan.org, n.d.).

2. Plato’s description of Atlantis spoke of the large network of canals at the city’s location.   He also spoke of the city as a naval power with multiple ships used for trading to other  countries.

a. Due to the small size of their naval forces at the time, Atlantis could not be  located in the Canaries or in Northwest Africa.

b. The Incas of Peru, while they had a strong naval fleet, they also had very little  water, which eliminates them from the list of possible locations (www.atlan.org,  n.d.).

3. Plato spoke of Atlantic being the home of two specific crops – rice and wheat or barley –  grows abundantly in the Far East. These crops are supported by a tropical climate and an  annual monsoon – much like we see in Asia today (Prassanan, n.d.).

4. Plato spoke of Atlantic having a large population, which knocks most proposed locations,  including Europe, North America, North Africa and the Near East, out of the running.   While the exact population of the Far East is difficult to estimate, it is estimated that Asia  produced between 10 and 20 million tons of rice each year, which could easily feed a  population of 15-30 million people (www.atlan.org, n.d.).

5. Plato believed that elephants were present on Atlantis. Elephants were found in great  numbers in South Asia. They did not exist during the later date of the theory that asserts  Thera as the location (www.atlan.org, n.d.).  While none of these reasons eliminate all other possibilities, leaving the South China Sea as the  only option, they do collectively eliminate the other locations and support this as the location of  the Lost City of Atlantis.

The economic problems that President Roosevelt had to face when he became President of the United States were the result of the Great Depression that started after the United States stock market crash on October 29, 1929.

That is why he immediately created the New Deal, a series of programs and legislation to help the millions of American citizens that had lost their jobs after the stock market crash.

How did the United Arab Emirates change its economy in order to avoid problems from dependence on petroleum exports? Respond in at least 2 complete sentences.

Answers

Answer:

The economy of the United Arab Emirates (or UAE) is the fourth largest in the Middle East (after Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Iran), with a gross domestic product (GDP) of US$421 billion (AED 1.5 trillion) in 2020.

The UAE has been successfully diversifying its economy, particularly in Dubai, but still remains heavily reliant on revenues from petroleum and natural gas, which continue to play a central role in its economy, especially in Abu Dhabi. More than 85% of the UAE's economy was based on oil exports in 2009. While Abu Dhabi and other UAE emirates have remained relatively conservative in their approach to diversification, Dubai, which has far smaller oil reserves, was bolder in its diversification policy. In 2011, oil exports accounted for 77% of the UAE's state budget.
