When ignited, a uranium compound burns with a green flame. The wavelength of the light given off by this flame is greater than that of _____.

Answers

Answer:

Ultraviolet light.

Explanation:

Uranium is a natural radioactive chemical element with the chemical symbol "U" and an atomic number of 92. Uranium is used for generating nuclear fuels which are typically used in powering atomic bombs and nuclear reactors in the field of electricity generation.

When ignited, a uranium compound burns with a green flame. The wavelength of the light given off by this flame is greater than that of ultraviolet light which typically ranges from 100nm to 400nm. Where, nm is represents nanometer.

Basically, when ignited, a uranium compound burns with a green flame having a wavelength of 4.30 x 10^-7m to 5 x 10^-7m.

Which statement best describes how to predict the formula of a stable ionic compound? Use the same number of cations as anions so that the compound is neutral. Use more cations than anions so that the compound is positively charged. Use enough cations and anions so that the total charge is zero. Use fewer cations than anions so that the compound is negatively charged.
IT's C

Answers

Answer:

Option C: Use enough cations and anions so that the total charge is zero

Explanation:

In a stable ionic compound, to get a predict the formula, the positive and negative ions on one side need to cancel out so that the compound becomes neutral.

For example, let's take consider an ionic compound known as Potassium Chloride. It has a formula KCl. Now , breaking it down, the charges will be; K+ and Cl-. This means Potassium (K) has +1 charges and Chloride has -1 charges. Thus, they will cancel out to give a total neutral charge of 0.

Thus, the correct answer is to use enough a ions and cations so that the total charge is zero.

1. This experiment was to find how mass and speed effect KE. This is important because if you were in a situation where you needed something to go higher, you would know to add more or less of mass/speed.

To test mass, we filled the bean bag with a certain amount of water, then dropped it. After, you recorded how high it made the bean bag go. The same with speed, but same amount in the bottle, just dropped from different heights.

My hypothesis is when you have more mass, the KE will be greater. This is also the same with speed, if it is dropped from a higher place, the bean bag will launch farther than the last time.

2. Data I collected from the lab was like my hypothesis explained. When the height of the bottle increased, it made the bean bag go higher than the last. And I tested 4 different masses, 0.125 kg, 0.250kg, 0.375kg and 0.500kg. Each time the bean bag went higher on a larger mass.

A lot of times on the speed test, the bean bag would go higher than the bottle drop point, but not every time. Also, when it was dropped from the same height each time, some results varied quite a bit, like when it was dropped from 1.28 the results were 1.14 then 1.30 1.30. Mass on the other hand was all in the same number range, only once the numbers were a bit off from each other.

3.  Some formulas I used were KE= ½ mv^2 and Ht v^2/2g. The first was to calculate the kinetic energy of an object, m=mass v=speed. Second was for finding out what height I needed to drop something to reach a certain speed, Ht=Height and g= Gravitational Acceleration of 9.8 m/s^2.

I used these to figure out tables that showed relationships between different things like mass and KE or speed and height. The whole time I was doing the lab, my data was going up, when there was more mass/speed there were higher values in the table.

This means that my hypothesis at the beginning was correct, more of m/s means KE will increase proportionally because they are all linear. I found it surprising when the bean bag height went over the water bottle drop mark.

4.     To conclude, my hypothesis matched my data. The data values went up when more mass or speed was added. This means if I were in a situation where I needed more kinetic energy for something, I would know to increase mass or the speed of the object giving it energy.

The reason that this hypothesis is correct is when you have more mass, you have more energy. So, when you drop let's say a baseball, it isn’t that heavy so it would only launch the bean bag so far. But a bowling ball is very heavy and has lots of energy when falling because of that, it would make the bean bag go very high.

To make this experiment better, I would use a smoother material for the lever so energy wouldn’t be lost by friction from wood rubbing together. Also, maybe a scanner or video camera to more accurately record how far the bean bag went. All of these would help the lab get more precise results, maybe they could be used in a future lab.

I don't know if this is right but try it. The amount of water vapor in the air is called absolute humidity. What is the difference in drawing Lewis Dot
Structures for ionic and covalent bonds?

Answers

Answer:

In Lewis Dot Structure of Covalent compound it never contain any charge and for Ionic compounds always contain charges.

The Lewis Dot Structure for ionic compounds must demonstrate how the electrons are transported to create the ions in the compound. The Lewis Dot Structures of covalent compounds must demonstrate how the electrons are being shared to finish the octets of each atom in the molecule.

What is an ionic compound ?

A chemical compound known as an ionic compound is one that contains ions bound together by the electrostatic forces known as ionic bonding. Despite having both positively and negatively charged ions, or cations and anions, the molecule is generally neutral.

The term "ionic bonding" refers to a bond in which the ionic character is greater than the covalent character, i.e., when there is a significant difference in the electronegativity of the two atoms, which makes the bond more polar (ionic) than in a covalent bond, where the electrons are distributed more evenly.

The Lewis structures are not frequently drawn for ionic compounds due to the electrical motion of electrons.

Thus, The Lewis Dot Structure for ionic compounds must demonstrate how the electrons are transported to create the ions in the compound.

A student heats 25 mL of water from 20°C to 96°C in a glass beaker. The
model represents the motion of the water molecules during heating.
Explain why some of the water molecules shown in the model have
longer arrows than other water molecules during heating.

Answers

Answer:

Because the have acquired energy from the heating process, that is why the start moving faster.

Explanation:

Hello.

In this case, since the  initial liquid water molecules have a certain energy content, which makes them move with the relatively medium velocity characteristic in liquid-phase substances, once energy starts being added, it is evidenced that the molecules acquire more energy which is able to make them move faster.

In such a way, since the initial water molecules velocity is marked by a medium range arrows, meaning that the molecules are moving not-so-fast, not-so-slow but the heated  water molecules are marked by longer arrows, meaning that they move faster, we infer that such velocity increase is due to the addition of heat due to the heating process from 20 °C to 96 °C (just before boiling).

Regards!

Molecular motion is the action of motion of the molecules or the particles in a specific direction. The molecules start moving faster due to the energy given by the heat.

What are the factors affecting molecular motion?

The movement of the molecules or the particles in the system is affected by the temperature and the heat given to the system by the external source.

The initial molecules have relative speed and motion in the system and after the addition of the factors the energy of the motion of the particles gets affected.

When the temperature of the water in the beaker is increased then the average kinetic energy of the molecules also increases and hence the motion of the molecules increases.

The medium ranged arrows depict the average speed of the molecule movement in the medium, while the longer arrows suggest the fast-moving molecules of the water.

Therefore, the heat increases energy and in turn the molecular motion.

Explanation:

The relative concentration of CO2, N2 and He depends on the solubility of each gas in water. The more soluble in water a gas is, the greater its concentration in aqueous solution.

Among the gases listed, CO2 is most soluble in water hence it is expected to have the greatest concentration in solution followed by N2. Helium gas is insoluble in water hence it has the least concentration in the aqueous solution.
